The operation was for several decades a division of Metso, the Finnish multinational now merged with Outotec to become Metso Outotec. It was purchased by Istogen Investment Holdings and began its new journey operating as Ostem on 1 November 2020.

Istrodent Africa is a private company that operates primarily in the Dental and Medical industry under the umbrella of the holding company Istrodent. We design, develop and market, dental and medical equipment. Mr. Shaul Koren is the founder and Chairman of the group Istrodent established in 1994.
Mr. Koren trained as a biomedical engineer. He was the first to introduce ground breaking innovation in South Africa in the Mammography space and in Mobile Medical and Dental clinics built in trucks and vans.
Our Chairman collaborated with Transnet in the design and construction of the first Phelophepa train in 1994. He played a key role in the development of the WAND STA (Single Tooth Anesthesia) painless injection system.
